Hehee.
The twits should have parked the crane length wise.
Then not tried to lift too heavy a weight!

I once owned a crane truck with a Palfinger crane, a bit smaller than the one on the second truck. He was OK going out the side -with the outriggers extended like that he was just as good as over the back. But he should have maneuvered the wreck so it was parallel to the quay and then he wouldn't have been so extended. From the picture it looks like it might have dragged on the wall, which might have been just enough to overballance it. Also, as you raise it up, the crane describes an arc. When it gets horizontal, it's actually farther out than when it's pointing down or up which makes a difference.

Wonder what they finally used to do the job.

I had a 2nd look. I hadn't noticed the outriggers or stabilizers extended. You right it looks like it snagged the wall. (Then he gunned it! ?)

Remember Ron White of Rotten pumpkins? He offered his site when BC Tel forums collapsed but Scott's talkon caught on.
Anyway he caught me with one of those bonzai kitty stories.

It was quite realistic. How they put the small kitty in a jar and attached hoses for food and drink and pooping....
Then when the kitty grew to fill the jar the nose flattened out.. etc etc.
I was in tears!
