"Stand by Me"

Below is a link to one of the best pieces of sound engineering work I have ever seen. It is a composite audio/video of song whereby additional tracks were laid in by different singers and musicians from different places around the world. The finished product is tremendous! The song itself is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters. This composite version is a real toe-tapper, ...

Grab a coffee and have a chat before you wander through the rest of the forums.

My son had his rugby wrap-up and awards yesterday, and he got the trophy for best forward!

Yeah, I admit my first thought was that everyone got something, but there were only 3 awards per team... so how cool is that?

I'm proud of my boy.

This is one of the kindest things I've ever experienced. I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a kind soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service. Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize ...

It was an absolute shock to hear the very sad news today that award-winning author Michael Crichton has passed away at the age of 66. His family said that he had been fighting a "courageous and private battle against cancer", adding, "He will be profoundly missed by those whose lives he touched, but he leaves behind the greatest gifts of a thirst for knowledge, the desire to understand, and the wisdom to use our minds ...

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.

I will continue when I regain composure. I have to see the skin doc at 1pm as I was skinned alive sans 9 iron. Then at 2pm the dentist for a crown. How can I affford a new set of clubs after paying for all that gold?

Then there is the sub prime bad noos too.

Dancing with Matt

Explanation: What are these humans doing? Dancing. Many humans on Earth exhibit periods of happiness, and one method of displaying happiness is dancing. Happiness and dancing transcend political boundaries and occur in practically every human society. Above, Matt Harding traveled through many nations on Earth, started dancing, and filmed the result. The video is perhaps a dramatic example that humans from all over planet Earth feel a common bond as part of a single species. ...

My father-in-law passed away this morning. He was only 83, but he hadn't been well, neither physically nor in spirit, for quite some time.

There is some confusion as to his exact bio, but the basic facts are that he was raised by his mother and his step-father after his own father was drowned at sea. He didn't realize this till after his mother died, at which time he hyphenated his name in honour of his father.

Raised in Germany, he was sent to boarding school in the Black Forest. ...

So..

I just had my offer accepted on the oldest coffee house in my city here...

It's not really sunk in yet...

Monday I was just going about my usual business... and 4 days later I own a barrista..

It's one of those times where you feel the hand of the universe firmly pushing one in a certain direction.

My kid is over the moon...

I found this site quite by accident, and had a lot of fun making various patterns. By clicking on the little circles on the lower left as well as in the centre, you change the styles. There are also 2 circles on the lower right which switch the background from white to vlack. The colours constantly change.

It's like a Spirograph crossed with a kaleidoscope.

It's got a box that sits behind the lew... and when liquid in the bowl hits a certain level.. this pump comes on and shoots everything up 4 feet and out the drain...

Worked like a damn....

except...

in the middle of the night when your still mostly asleep... and your sitting there waiting for your body to do it's thing..

and all of a sudden that pump thing will come on in the dark... ...

Commencement advice you're unlikely to hear elsewhere.

May 4, 2008

Well, here you are at your college graduation. And I know what you're thinking: "Gimme the sheepskin and get me outta here!" But not so fast. First you have to listen to a commencement speech.

Don't moan. I'm not going to "pass the wisdom of one generation down to the next." I'm a member of the 1960s generation. We didn't have ...

But there it was, safely migrated to the new improved forum. Those Pinko dudes know a good thing when they see it.

If you thought hen's teeth were the rarest thing in nature, think again: researchers from Britain and the US have succeeded in growing teeth in a chicken.

Far from being rarer than students who turn up at 9am lectures or lecturers who like giving them, a hen with teeth does occur naturally, scientists based at the universities of Manchester and Wisconsin have found.

I just checked my Hotmail and there was a email from Natalie I had to check if it was that Gulbis bombshell.

She wants to meet me for some golf lessons I guess.

So I Googled her!

Wow over 12,000 images!

Wait while I dig up that email...
